One of my earliest memories of science fiction was Star Trek - not The Original Series, but The Next Generation. Only during adolescence did I understand the connection between the two. Leonard Nimoy as Mr Spock inspired generations of scientists and explorers to look beyond our capabilities and achieve the impossible.
A school teacher of mine had recommended I watch Star Trek TNG to learn about ethics, morals and the human nature to strive for equality and be better than we are. TNG was the start of my Star Trek journey, and I may have watched every episode of every franchise since, including every movie. So in some way, Mr Spock may have also influenced my life.
For this, I salute you Leonard Nimoy, rest in peace.
